Eleagnos® is a unique certified therapeutic extra virgin olive oil of the highest quality produced under the agro-biodynamic management of the University of Patras research team.
The word Eleagnos® is a combination of the Greek nouns “Elaion”, pronounced Eleon, meaning oil and “Agnos” meaning pure, virgin, untainted.
The health-enhancing properties of Eleagnos® extra virgin olive oil are attributed to its high content in polyphenols and especially in the phenolic compounds “oleocanthal” and “oleacin”. These offer antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits as well as cardioprotective and neuroprotective activity. They protect the blood lipids from oxidative stress according to the Health Claim Regulation 432/2012 of the European Union. Eleagnos® is produced from Koroneiki and Lanolia olive trees which are some of the few varieties that include these compounds. Upon its production its content of polyphenols amounts to approx. 1270 mg/kg, which is extremely high.
This medicinal type of oil is what attributes to low rates of both cancer and cognitive diseases in Mediterranean populations and is thus being used in clinical studies for the enhancing of human health.
Eleagnos® has won more than 40 international distinctions, concerning its quality and its health-protective ingredients. In 2021, it won the highest international award PLATINUM AWARD, in London for its health-protective characteristics together with 5 gold awards concerning quality and taste.
Eleagnos® extra virgin olive oil is derived from hand-picked, organically grown, fresh pressed olives on Antiparos, a Greek unspoilt small island in the Cyclades, in the center of the Aegean, where the Greek sunny climate conditions ensure this excellent result. It is early harvested and cold pressed using exclusively natural methods.
